Andrew Sooparlie, BSc. (MSc. ABD)

Andrew graduated from The University of West Indies, St. Augustine in 2009 earning a BSc in Psychology. It was during his studies at the UWI he developed a heightened level of Social consciousness through the Peer Counselling Programme. This level of interaction has fuelled his drive to engage in and support people. As a Junior Associate at Dolly and Associates Limited, he worked extensively in developing and implementing social programmes, community programmes, group facilitation and counselling with youths. He has developed skills in Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR). Andrew has also supported crisis intervention including Critical Incident Stress Management and Psychotherapeutic Groups exploring trauma and healing. He was able to coordinate manpower and resources for programmes serving diverse populations. In addition to coordinating and arrange mentorship programmes with specific objectives towards developing relationships between mentors and mentees.

Andrew’s involvement with The Centre for Human Development has enabled him to develop a vision of growth, networking and sustainability for society’s challenged.

Currently Andrew is pursuing an MSc in Criminology at the University of the West Indies with an orientation towards examining the impact of trauma on families.
