Maryam Ali, MA., BA

Maryam Ali is a Counselling Psychologist with a specialization in using play therapy in a clinical practice

with children, adolescents and their families. She is currently attached to The Centre for Human

Development Limited (TCHD) where she facilitates and manages group therapy. She received her

Bachelors of Psychology with honours at the University of the West Indies (2011), Masters of

Counselling Children and Young People (Merit) from the University of Nottingham in the United

Kingdom (2012). It was during this period in the UK that Maryam received her training in play therapy as

the Master’s program focussed on using play therapeutic methods with children and adolescents who

were victims of abuse and trauma. Maryam is known as a dynamic, engaging presenter with a

reputation for providing clinically useful play therapeutic interventions. Her clinical experience was

developed through working with a number of non-profit organizations in the United Kingdom. She has a

strong desire to further her knowledge and training in dealing with children and adolescents who have

suffered severe trauma using creative play therapeutic methods.
